When Prince William eventually becomes king, Catherine, Princess of Wales, will take on the title of queen consort. Although this transition is not expected to happen in the near future, royal commentators suggest that preparations for these future roles may already be well underway.

Prince William, 43, is currently first in line to the throne. He will become monarch following either the abdication or passing of King Charles III, who is 77.

Royal author Katie Nicholl told the Mirror that those close to the couple believe Kate is fully prepared for the role. According to Nicholl, when she asked someone familiar with the couple whether the Princess of Wales is ready to become queen consort, the response was an unequivocal yes.
